Synopsis

Blending both text and dance, Dear Ida is moving piece of theatre, communicating the role and pivotal importance of the WWII dance halls on the Australian home-front throughout WWII.  Dear Ida is a performance for those that lived through this era as well while providing contemporary audiences with a unique insight into the past. Using universal themes, Dear Ida appeals to a wide audience, providing many with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their family or community history. This performance documents the mood and tensions of Australian society on the home front, including the tension brought by the American presence within the community.
